The More You Tell, The More You Sell

by John McIntyre

In today’s Drop Dead Copy Video Session:

00:24 – The more you tell, the more you sell.
00:44 – Out of 100 people who visit a page, suppose 5 people buy straight away.
01:26 – The next 10 people may need 5000 words of copy before they buy.
02:00 – Some people need more information before they will buy.
02:25 – A relationship never really ends.
02:46 – The basic idea is that the more emails you send, the more people you’re going to catch.
03:23 – That’s why “the more you tell, the more you sell”.

  1. I have had auto responders that had regular emails and found people unsubscribed because they said it was to frequent. I guess the secret is keeping it interesting, but if you are selling one product, surely there is only so much you can say in an email series. So isnt it better to send an email series weekly or less.

    • Sure, people complain… but what about the people that don’t? This is something called the “silent majority”. Too often, we make biz decisions based on the 1 or 2 people who complain, when we’re better off servicing the “silent majority”, who actually enjoy what we do but never get around to telling us.

Provided your emails are entertaining, you can absolutely email daily, or regularly (*at least* 2-3 times a week, if not daily). YES, people will complain, but those people generally aren’t your ideal prospects. The people who are engaged and enjoying the emails are your ideal prospects.. they are the people you need to go after. They have hot problems.

There will always be haters. Ignore them.
